Villa Frankenburg was built by Prince Carl of Bavaria under the direction of architect Michael Tölzer. Originally planned by Prince Carl of Bavaria for his second wife, Henriette, and completed in 1866, the historic property was extensively restored several years ago and returned to its original condition. Elaborate paintings, stucco work, and frescoes were reconstructed based on historical records and executed in accordance with the strict guidelines of the historic preservation authorities. Villa Frankenburg comprises approximately 20 rooms with a living area of about 775 m² and is situated on a park-like property spanning approximately 3,764 m², offering a stately and unique view of Lake Tegernsee. Thanks to the restoration work carried out over the years with the utmost care and perfection, the Prince’s Villa now shines in new splendor. Whether as a primary or secondary residence—Villa Frankenburg offers exceptional living in one of Bavaria’s most prestigious locations.

Location info

For decades, Lake Tegernsee has held an extraordinary appeal. Located about 50 km south of Munich, this area offers an incomparable and unique charm thanks to its enchanting lakeside landscape and majestic mountain panorama in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills. In Tegernsee, the combination of a nature-oriented lifestyle with numerous recreational opportunities and modern infrastructure—including excellent connections to the state capital, Munich—creates a particularly pleasant living environment. In the neighboring town of Rottach-Egern, you’ll find not only a wide variety of shopping options that go far beyond daily necessities, but also renowned doctors and secondary schools. Well-known and diverse restaurants round out the picture. Villa Frankenburg is located in the southern part of Tegernsee, just a few hundred meters from the shore of Lake Tegernsee, so that spontaneous walks by the lake can become the norm. At the same time, both the Tegernsee train station and the Bräustüberl—known far beyond the city limits—are within a few minutes’ walk.
